Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE)
The Malaysia International Dive Expo (MIDE) was initiated in 2006 and it
has been a yearly expo till todate. MIDE objective is promoting
Malaysia and its surrounding waters as Asia’s best diving spots and one
of the Best Dive Destinations in the world. Further to promote Malaysia
as the world-standard diving destination and its region to the
international and domestic divers. It also aims to cultivate and develop
the new generation of divers of their interest by diverting them to
marine environment and making scuba diving as an interesting experience.
Further to promote major brands of products and services that can be
obtained in Malaysia. Yearly MIDE’s has visitors minimum from 30
countries. Our visitor-ship has increased since 2006 from 2,000 todate
to 7,000.
MIDE has open doors to the industry to benefit and to
take advantage in vast area that has the expertise, the knowledge and
the understanding of the dive industry to fully accommodate the needs of
both the industry professional and the diving consumer. It has been
seen the increase in the divers being certified yearly.
With
Malaysia’s 24 million in population, it currently has approximately
120,000 certified Malaysian divers starts from the age of 8 years old to
the age of 40 and above. There is still more work to be done to
promote and create awareness of the diving industry in Malaysia.
Nevertheless, every year during MIDE dive centre sign up close to 2,000
divers. Year around divers being certified reaches a figure
approximately 18,000 divers in Malaysia and a person can become an open
water diver at the early age of 13 years old onwards.
In regards
to conservation this exhibition is a good platform to raise awareness to
the visitors who may be mostly divers, future divers or general public
to be responsible and mindful while engaging in especially water sport
activities. MIDE shares marine conservation efforts. It is also one of
our corporate responsibility initiatives to help conserve the
environment and marine life. We have conservation groups such as Reef
Check Malaysia, WWF, Malaysia Nature Society who are endlessly doing
their conservation works for the young generation to know and understand
the underwater world by educating the young generation divers.
